Kick Drum Mic Comparisons, D6, D, Beta 91, RE20, ATM25
I own an EV RE, which I intend to use for kick drum micing. I also own 3 MD-'s. And how do the ATM25 and Audix D6 compare?

I personally like the sm7 much better, but they are both good. D12 has a resonance chamber that helps give it its sound. The SM7's I have used were pretty much a "one-trick pony" for vocals. The time now is Currently, an AT is filling that role.

Although I am a big fan of the d i have a new favorite in the sennheiser I was listening to some drums we tracked yesterday with it and thinking how much I liked the kick sound. FYI, once you have a kick track in your DAW, it's relatively easy to replace it with a sample if you so choose. If I were to go out and get a kick mic right now for live use, it would probably be an Electrovice ND I also like the Shure Beta 52 in some applications, but placement is critical. I have a beta 52, ATM 25, aand had a d for awhile and the 25 definetly kills the others.
